More Details:
The modem is simply connected to a USB port on a personal computer and the user's telephone line via an external splitter, or in conjunction with telephony microfilters. The simplicity of the software makes end-user installation simple and straightforward, with self-installing drivers supporting Microsoft Windows® 98 and ME, Windows® 2000, Windows® XP and Apple Macintosh® OS8 and OS9. Linux drivers are in the pipeline.
Most home personal computers are provided with two USB-ready ports ensuring that no other inter-working equipment needs to be provided by the end user. Configuration and connection to the ADSL service are achieved via a minimal set of simple, once-only, windows.
Use of layered protocols ensures robust operation with Point to Point Protocol over ATM (PPPoA) and Point to Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE), allowing flexibility for a range of ISP service options. The use of PPP technology allows seamless operation over a range of existing telecommunications and data architectures, as well as providing encapsulation for applications and upper layer protocols - such as IP and IPX.
The FDX310 USB Modem is supplied with easily installable software drivers, user manual and cables for ADSL line and USB computer connections.
